Disco era in full swing here. Seen in plaid is my Dad the commercial real estate broker with his girlfriend (and eventual wife), Maxine Van Voorst; and to the left is Aunt Joan and Uncle Bob. My aunt worked for Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley, Uncle Bob had his own janitorial business, while Maxine became a lawyer shortly thereafter, having originally started with the Department of Social Security. This is my Mom surrounded by her three siblings (James, Peter and Nancy), while on a visit to Southern California in 1979. Missing from the photo is my Mom’s younger sister, Sydney, who died of cancer in 1974.
Me and my Mom pictured here in Ladera Heights in 1980, an affluent suburb in Los Angeles. By the late 1970's, real estate was such that my Dad bought a home in this neighborhood. This was similar to the boom of the late 1960's when prosperous times in real estate allowed us to have a second home in Lake Arrowhead.
